Established in 1972 by Bill and Betty Allsopp, the Queens Park Rockets Little Athletics Club provides a fun, safe and nurturing environment where kids are encouraged to be the best they can be - and where the whole family is welcome. Our home ground is the recently-renovated, world-class Ern Clarke Athletics Centre on Wharf Street, Cannington.
Little Athletics caters for boys and girls aged from 6 to 16 years of age of varying levels of ability with a wide range of track and field events including sprints, middle distance running, hurdles, jumps and throws, all of which are conducted in a fun, safe environment that the whole family can enjoy. In fact, family is what it's all about; from the picnic atmosphere on the hill every competition day to the communal commitment all parents share in ensuring the smooth operation of the day's activities.
Younger children are encouraged to try Turbo Jav (a safe, plastic version of the flying spear!) and to have a go at events such as 'The Walk' and the 60-metre hurldes. Older children looking for an edge in their chosen Winter team sport will find themselves becoming fitter and faster than they have ever been. With around fifty athletes ranging in ability from absolute beginners to State Champions, Queens Park Rockets welcomes all 'newbies' with a smile! |
